In the wake of Tropical Storm Lala, County of Maui Department of Environmental Management (DEM) Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division and Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) are announcing options to dispose of green waste. The definition of green waste is: organic plant material from yards, landscaping or storm cleanup, such as tree branches, leaves, grass clippings, brush, shrubs and other vegetation.
Self Haul:
- Central Maui Landfill, Puʻunēnēʻ
- Hawaii Organics Compost facility, Waikapū
- Hāna Landfill - Refuse & Recycling Center, Hāna
- Molokai-Naiwa Landfill & Recycling Center, Molokaʻi
- Pūlama Lānaʻi green waste facility, Lānaʻi
County Hauling:
- Thirty-yard roll-off bins for green waste hauling by County DEM on a first come, first served basis for Maui and Molokaʻi residents
- Property must be accessible for a truck to safely enter and drop off 22-foot roll-off container
- Bins are for green waste only and can only be on property for up to seven days
- Only one bin may be requested at a time
- To request a County green waste bin, call DEM Environmental Protection & Sustainability Division office at (808) 270-7631 and leave a message mentioning the program, along with your name, phone number and address
